This car featured in the Quentin Wilson Triumph Herald Documentary, The Cars the Star from 1994 this superb looking Triumph Herald Convertible had escaped our radar for existing cars. The details are: Commission Number: Y21703CV • Build Date: December 1960 • Registered Date: 7/1/1961 • Engine Number: Y25951HE
The numberplate was for Stratford upon Avon.

The photo above is a still from “the cars the star’ back in 1994 and recently a couple of new photos have come to light – with the paintwork now looking a little ‘worn’ – paintwork that looks Monaco Blue, or even Targo Purple as opposed to the ‘blue’ on the TV still.  Are you the current owner of 6316UE? Update April 2016:
The good news: The mileage on this car is reported to be only 25,361 however the bad news that was back in December 2010. The car failed the MOT (badly) in July 2010 with these details:
Offside All position lamps not working (1.1.A.3b)
Offside Headlamp not working on main beam (1.7.5a)
Offside Headlamp not working on dipped beam (1.7.5a)
Nearside Front Vehicle structure has excessive corrosion, seriously affecting its strength within 30cm of the body mountings (6.1.B.2)
Offside Front Vehicle structure has excessive corrosion, seriously affecting its strength within 30cm of the body mountings (6.1.B.2)
Nearside Rear Vehicle structure has excessive corrosion, seriously affecting its strength within 30cm of the body mountings (6.1.B.2)
Offside Rear Vehicle structure has excessive corrosion, seriously affecting its strength within 30cm of the body mountings (6.1.B.2)
The car must have been repaired sufficiently to subsequently pass the MOT in December 2010 with the test running through ’till 10 December 2010. The car has since not had a new MOT giving concern for it’s future. Today, 2016 the car is registered as SORN (Statutory Off Road Notification) so let’s hope it’s tucked away waiting for a restoration soon!
